Lavonne Meyer, 88, of George, Iowa, died Friday, June 25, 2021, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Memorial service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Boyden, Iowa, with private family burial prior in the church cemetery.
Lavonne Arlene Dammann was born April 1, 1933, near daughter of Harry and Marie (Habbinga) Dammann. She attended country school and George Community School.
On Feb. 16, 1955, she married Irvin Meyer. The couple farmed near George, Little Rock and Ashton. On Nov. 22, 2002, they retired and moved into George.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol (husband, Kevin) Dirks of George, Beverly (Eric) Raber of Millersbur, Ohio, and Janet (Randy) Schmith of Boyden; a son, Percy Meyer of George; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Gladys (Norm) Moret of Boyden; sister-in-law, Mary Dammann of Sheldon; and two brothers-in-law, Jim Van Rennes of Sheldon, Iowa, and Vern (Margie) Meyer of Aberdeen, South Dakota, and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 58 years and three brothers, Floyd, Oval and Arnold Dammann.
