Five baseball players earn all-conference honors

Five Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley baseball players were picked to the Siouxland All-Conference baseball team as selected by conference coaches Tuesday, July 18.

Selected to the first team were Shane Solberg and Zach Noble, and both players were unanimous picks. Solberg was the top hitter for the Nighthawks from the leadoff spot, hitting for a conference-high .495 average with three triples, seven doubles, 31 runs and 24 RBIs. Noble was one of the top pitchers in the conference, throwing 59 innings with a 0.71 ERA, 67 strikeouts compared to only 18 walks with an opponents’ batting average against of .136. Offensively, Noble hit .352 with three home runs, two triples, four doubles, 21 runs and 19 RBIS.

Earning second-team honors were Brett Moser and Mitchell Diekevers. Moser hit .456 with one home run, nine doubles, 17 runs and 28 RBIs as Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley’s catcher. Diekevers hit .341 with one home run, one triple, four doubles, 20 runs and 21 RBIs.

Receiving an honorable mention pick was Jackson Mulder. Mulder hit .360 with eight doubles, 25 runs and 14 RBIs. Mulder was also one of the top relievers in the conference, throwing 18-2/3 innings out of the pen with a 2.63 ERA, four walks, 10 strikeouts and an opponents’ batting average against of .202.
