Albert “AJ” John Kracht, 89, of Steen, Minnesota, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019, at Parkview Manor in Ellsworth, Minnesota.
Funeral service was Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Jurrens Funeral Home, Rock Rapids, Iowa, with interment in Riverview Cemetery, Rock Rapids.
Albert John Kracht was born Aug. 12, 1930, near Rock Rapids to Peter and Grace (Flier) Kracht. He grew up on farms near Rock Rapids and worked for area farmers. He served in the U.S. Army from June 14, 1956, to May 16, 1958.
On March 10, 1961, he married Anna Mae Ver Beek. They made their home in Rock Rapids and he worked for his uncle. In 1967 they bought a farm near Steen where he farmed until 2008. His wife passed away Jan. 12, 1996. He became a resident of Parkview Manor July 31, 2014.
Survivors include six children, Trudy (Brad) Beyenhof of Rock Rapids, Pete Kracht of Ash Creek, Minnesota, Jolene (Doug) Van Surksum of Hull, Iowa, Kevin (Theresa) Kracht of Fortine, Montana, Marlin (Bobbi) Kracht of Luverne, Minnesota, and Larry (Bobbie) Kracht of Magnolia, Minnesota; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice Cosgrove of O’Fallon, Missouri, and one brother, Bert “Bud” Kracht of Beaver Creek, Minnesota; as well as other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two brothers, Ben and Bert Kracht, and two sisters, Jennie Schouwenburg and Hattie Top.
