Ruben H. Winter, 92, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, at his residence.
Funeral service was Saturday, Nov. 27, at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Boyden, Iowa, with interment in the church cemetery.
Ruben Helmut A. Winter was born Oct. 15, 1929, in Olivet, South Dakota, son of Herman and Margaret (Heinsohn) Winter. In 1930, the family moved to a farm near Boyden where he attended parochial school and graduated from Sheldon High School in 1947. Ruben was drafted into the Korean War. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954.
On Feb. 24, 1960, he married Louise Marie Techen. They dairied 31 years, first in rural Boyden and then near Whitesboro, Texas. In 1991, they moved to Sheldon. During his retirement, he worked for Sudengas and Ritter Elevator.
Survivors include his children, Sandra (Doug) Schoof of Primghar, Iowa, and Roger (Ronda) Winter of Whitesboro; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alvin Winter of Whitesboro, and Norven Winter of Boyden; a sister, Luella Loges of Sheldon; sisters-in-law, Shirley Techen of Sheldon, Elaine Sohl of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Marlen Techen of George, Iowa; also other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by wife; son, Rodney Winter; parents and siblings, August Winter, Louise Uilk, Meta Fick, Hilda Uilk, Elsie Fick and Gerhardt Winter.
