Vickie Riphagen, 63, of Orange City, Iowa, passed away Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, at her residence.
Memorial service was Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Trinity Reformed Church, Orange City, with interment in West Lawn Cemetery, Orange City.
Vickie Fay Rook was born Nov. 4, 1955, in Sioux Center, Iowa, the daughter of Wilbur and Tillie (De Jong) Rook. She was raised on a farm near Rock Valley, Iowa, and attended Rock Valley Community School.
On Aug. 30, 1974, she married James Riphagen. The couple made their home in Des Moines, Iowa, and Seattle, Washington, before settling in Orange City. She worked at Bankers Life in Des Moines and American Identity in Orange City. Later in life, she graduated from Northwest Iowa Community College, Sheldon, Iowa, with an associate degree in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Joshua (Gena) Riphagen of Milford, Iowa, and Seth Riphagen of Orange City; two grandchildren; her mother; five siblings, Marlys (Fred) Hamann of Hull, Iowa, Helen Merritt of San Diego, California, Paula Brandimarte and Rick Rook, both of Pueblo, Colorado, and Joyce (Jeff) Murphy of Granville, Iowa; Jim’s parents, William and Lavonne Riphagen of Hull; Jim’s four siblings, Cheryl (Paul) Gilford of Houston, Texas, Brad (Bonnie) Riphagen of Jefferson, Iowa, Mary (John) Brown of Galveston, Texas, and Joel (Yvonne) Riphagen of Sacramento, California.
She was preceded in death by her father; a daughter, Elizabeth Riphagen; a brother-in-law, Gerald Brandimarte, and a sister-in-law, Kathy Rook.
