Noble and Solberg picked as all-state players

The Iowa Newspaper Association announced its all-state baseball players Tuesday, Aug. 1, and two Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley players were selected.

Zach Noble was picked as a pitcher on the second team in Class 3A with Shane Solberg picked as an outfielder for the third team in Class 3A. Noble was the ace pitcher for the Nighthawks this past season with a 9-2 record, 66 innings pitched, a 0.64 ERA, 71 strikeouts compared to 23 walks and an opponents’ batting average against of .123. Noble was also good with the bat, hitting for a .352 average with three home runs, two triples, four doubles, 21 runs and 19 RBIS.

Solberg was the top hitter for Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley this past season hitting .495 from the leadoff spot with three triples, seven doubles, 31 runs and 24 RBIs.
