Gary Van Sloten

Gary Van Sloten, 64, of Doon, Iowa, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, at Ava’s House by Sanford, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at First Reformed Church, Hull, Iowa, with interment in Hope Cemetery, Hull.
Gary Lee was born July 15, 1954, in Sioux Center, Iowa, the son of Gerrit and Gertrude (Pollema) Van Sloten. He grew up on a farm north of Hull.
In 1972, he married Barbara Schneider. They made their home on his family’s farm where he milked more than 30 years.
He was a member of the First Reformed Church, where he had served as a deacon. He was currently a member of the Hull Cooperative Association Board.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Stacia (Casey) Timmer of Spencer, Iowa, Ryan (Jessica) Van Sloten of Ankeny, Iowa, and Cody (Tirzah) Van Sloten of Burtrum, Minnesota; seven grandchildren; two brothers, John (Coreen) Van Sloten of Rock Valley, Iowa, and Norm (Bettie) Van Sloten of Boyden, Iowa; a sister, Winnifred Van Veldhuizen of Rock Valley; two brothers-in-law, Ron (Judy) Schnieder of George, Iowa, and John (Anita) Schneider of Marcus, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father- and mother-in-law, Gerrit and Hermina Schneider; and a brother-in-law, Edwin Van Veldhuizen.
