Darlene Hollander, 80, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2017, at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center.
Funeral service was Thursday, Feb. 9, St. Paul Lutheran Church, rural Hull, Iowa, with interment in the church cemetery.
Darlene De Boer was born March 15, 1936, in Boyden, Iowa, the daughter of Peter and Effie (Korthals) De Boer. She received her education and graduated from Boyden High School in 1954. She then worked as a bookkeeper at DEMCO.
On June 7, 1957, she married John Hollander. After their marriage, she continued to work at DEMCO and later for Mr. B’s, Glenn’s Sport Center and Children’s World, all in Sheldon. The couple moved to Fieldcrest in February 2015.
Survivors include her husband; children, Rick (LaWana) Hollander of Cameron, Wisconsin and Renae (Brett) Bahrenfuss of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Harold De Boer of Olathe, Kansas; sister, Dorothy (Ivan) Van Ommeran of DeWitt, Iowa; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one great-grandson and sister, Jean (John) Doorenbos.
