Balance keeps Wolfpack undefeated

HULL-It was the third meet of the season for the Western Christian boys’ golf team and the Wolfpack had various scores on the course but managed to come away with a 160-183 victory over Sprit Lake in Lakes Conference boys’ golf at Rolling Hills Golf and Country Club Tuesday, April 11.

Western Christian was led by Carter Broek and Taylor Westphal, who both tied for first place overall individually with nine-hole rounds of 39. The tie forced a one-hole playoff with Westphal coming out on top. The other two top scorers for the Wolfpack were Cade Broek with a 40 and Brennan Kooi with a 42. The final two scores that did not count toward the team score were Caleb Harmsen with a 44 and Colyn Oostenink with a 51.

“It was a nice day for golf with a cool and slight breeze for our first conference meet of the year,” said Western Christian coach Jim Eekhoff. “We shot a very good 160. Our guys had some inconsistent rounds, but our balance once again came through.”

Cherokee was also present at the meet, but did not have enough golfers to accumulate a team score.
